"This Is Why I'm Hot" is a rap song by American rapper Mims that has been released as a single. It is the first single from his upcoming debut album M.I.M.S. (Music Is My Savior). The single has already received heavy rotation and radio play.

It has also performed successfully on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Billboard Hot Rap Tracks charts peaking at number four and number one respectively thus far. This song features samples from Kanye West's "Jesus Walks", E-40's "Tell Me When to Go", Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' But a "G" Thang" and Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones Pt. II".

On February 23, 2007 the song reached the top spot on the U.S. iTunes Store 100 most-downloaded songs, surpassing Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around...Comes Around". The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart, selling 140,874 downloads.

By early March 2007, the online release of the song had propelled it from number 32 to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in one week; this was the third-greatest rise to number one in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. [1] It remained at number one in the next week [2] until it was surpassed by "Glamorous", by Fergie and Ludacris the week after in the issue dated March 24, 2007.

Also in March 2007, Washington, D.C. radio host Peter "PMD" Rosenberg created a parody of the song entitled "This Is Why Duke Sucks," a tribute to the Duke University men's basketball program in advance of the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament.
