"Umbrella" is a song performed by Barbadian singer Rihanna. It was written by Terius "The Dream" Nash and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter for Rihanna's third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad.

The song has been hugely successful and simultaneously topped the UK (where it iremained for ten consecutive weeks, and was Rihanna's first number-one single)[1], Canadian, Irish, German, United States, Australian, New Zealand, Polish, French, Austrian, Belgian, Norwegian and Swiss charts, along with the United World Chart.

Rihanna has been making formal appearances all over England. She also performed three of her new songs in Preston at the BBC Radio 1 One Big Weekend event. At a mini/promotional concert, she performed "Umbrella", "Shut Up and Drive" and "Breakin' Dishes". Rihanna performed the song at the MTV Movie Awards 2007. In Germany she performed the song exclusively at Viva Live and the 42nd edition of the highly popular chart show The Dome.
